  1. Start with fresh, cold water. (the better the water quality, the better the tea will taste).
  2. Place a tea bag in your favorite cup or mug.
  3. Bring water to a rolling boil and immediately pour over your tea bag.
  4. Steep for a good 3 to 5 minutes (great taste can't be rushed—it really does take the full time to release the tea's entire flavor).
  5. Remove the tea bag, relax and enjoy (serve it “clear” or try it with milk and sugar)!

Green Tea Variation

  1. Start with fresh, cold water (the better the water quality, the better the tea will taste).
  2. Place a tea bag in your favorite cup or mug.
  3. Bring water to a rolling boil, remove from heat to cool for a moment and pour over your tea bag (green tea leaves are delicate—boiling water will bruise the leaves, causing a bitter taste).
  4. With green tea, steep for only a minute or two (over-steeping green tea will result in a harsh flavor).
  5. Remove the tea bag, relax and enjoy (serve it “clear” or sweeten with honey or sugar.)

Here's a coldwater method for clear, cloudless iced tea:

  1. Fill a pitcher or container with cold tap water. Cover. Let stand at room temperature or in the refrigerator.
  2. Add 4 to 6 tea bags.
  3. After at least 6 hours (or overnight), remove tea bags, squeezing against side of container.
  4. When ready to serve, pour into ice-filled glasses. Makes 1 pitcher. Recipe may be doubled.

Storing Tips

Once removed from the box, tea bags are highly susceptible to odors and can become 'stale'. To prevent this, immediately place 'exposed' tea bags in an airtight container and store in a cool, dry area. It is not recommended that tea be stored in the refrigerator or freezer, as condensation may be created by taking the tea out of the cold unit affecting the flavor of the blend.
